The new Ducati model which has so far been dubbed the Vyper and Mega Monster, will in fact be called the Ducati Diavel, according to MCN.
And no, we don’t like the name.
Where you put the accent for a start, we’re not clear (DiAvel, DiavEl…?).
Apparently the name is from the Bologna dialect and obviously means ‘devil’.
So far Ducati has registered the name not just for its new muscle bike, but also the full accessories and clothing range that will appear with the new motorcycle.
After all, no-one expects Ducati to sell just bikes these days, do they? The name might work well in Italy, but we have our doubts about it catching on in the English-speaking world.
But it might all come down to just how good the bike itself is.
Designed to be a kind of Ducati cruiser, so far we know that it will possibly be equipped with the Testastretta 11° engine currently being used on the Multistrada 1200 S.
We could also get a range of technology including ride by wire, traction control and ABS.
Will it all save the name…?
