MotoGP, Assen: Lorenzo vs Bautista sequence /gallery

There’s no doubt Alvaro Bautista made quite a gross mistake last saturday when he took down championship leader and fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo at the first corner of the Dutch GP.
On the famous Assen track, the Honda Gresini rider simply overcooked it, bumping into the Yamaha M1 ridden by an unsuspetting Lorenzo who couldn’t even see that coming and found himself thumbling on the sand with no chance to get back on the track.

Luckily enough no one got seriously hurt and Lorenzo will be able to race this coming weekend at the Sachsenring in spite of a minory problem at his right ankle, but with championship rival Casey Stoner making the most out of Lorenzo’s misfortune on the Dutch track, it seems like the Spaniard will have to struggle a lot to build up that 25-points gap he had over the Australian before the red lights in Assen got switched off.

Here is a collection of images picturing the crash from various angles: that’s racing, they say.
