Leon Haslam was supposed to celebrate his 27th birthday at round seven of the World Superbike Championship at the Miller Motorsports Park by keeping his lead in the standings over Max Biaggi, instead in race 2, he had battled from 10th place to fifth trying to catch up with the rest of the field, the luckless Brit crashed out and ended up needing 17 stitches to his left elbow.
Here’s what Haslam says from his Twitter page: “17 stitches and a drain which my dad played doctor and removed tonight.
Not good, ouch.
”Hopefully this ugly looking injury will not hamper Haslam during the Misano tests that take place in two weeks, ahead of the Misano round scheduled on June 25-27.
