AirAsia to sponsor Yamaha in MotoGP?

With Fiat having yet to announce if they will continue sponsoring Yamaha Racing in MotoGP (which is doubtful since Rossi will be going to Ducati) next season and the last rumors were that Spanish telecomunications company, Telefonica, was going to take their place on the M1 livery as Jorge Lorenzo has become the second Spaniard to win the World Championship and is a marketing director’s dream testimonial.

The lastest gossip after the Australian GP is that AirAsia, Malaysia’s low-cost airline, wants to further their foray in MotoGP and after having contacts with Honda HRC, but dropped out of negotiations when they found out that Casey Stoner’s future RCV wasn’t involved and have now turned to Yamaha.

AirAsia, is headed by Lotus F1 team principal Tony Fernandes, and was the title sponsor of the 2010 AirAsia British Grand Prix at Silverstone and also sponsors the 125cc team that fields riders Sturla Fagerhaug and Zulfahmi Khairuddin.
