He won the Spanish National Championship title in the 50, 125, 250, 500, and 750 cc classes, retired in 1986 at the age of 39.
Nieto won 90 Grand Prix victories, 13 World Championship titles, 139 podium finishes and 34 Pole Positions.
He raced for different teams like: Derbi, Morbidelli, Kreidler, Minarelli and Garelli.
