After the cancellation of the Paris motorcycle show Mondial, and the fact that it’s the off year for Intermot, Milan’s EICMA show is the only motorcycle world event for this year, though Honda and Yamaha will be missing from the line-up.
The two companies have stated that due to the economic downturn, culprit of the many crises the auto industry, finance industry, motorcycle industry etc etc are having, they will not be present this year.
It’s a blow for the world of two wheels when the two biggest manufacturers won’t attend the only motorcycle show of the year.
Aside from that, the other big name companies are so far planning to attend, including Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, Harley Davidson, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Kymco, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, Piaggio, Suzuki and Triumph among others.
This year also features a new area called ‘The Green Planet’ which showcases electric and hybrid motorcycles and the usual races and events outside will take place.
Last year’s EICMA show was a huge success (literally on a grand scale) and this year will host 420 exhibitors and 500 brands.
So if you were looking for a motorcycle show this year, the fact the EICMA is the only one is not the only reason to go.
Reports have it that EICMA will also be the partner for the launch of Asia’s biggest motorcycle show in China, too, so we’re looking forward to when that happens.
