The second World Superbike free practice at the Motorland Aragon saw Eugene Laverty regain the top of the timesheets with a blistering lap of 1’57″409, that lowered Tom Sykes QP2 time by more three tenths of a second in preparation for this afternoon’s Superpole but also ahead of tomorrow’s double header.

Sykes finshed second in the 45 minute session, but his improvement was barely minimal compared to Laverty’s lap time.

Marco Melandri made a massive jump forward to third, partially solving the chattering problems on his BMW S1000RR that plagued him in qualifying this morning, bettering himself by almost seven tenths from QP2.
Jonathan Rea dropped to fourth accusing more than 1.
1 seconds from Laverty.
Chaz Davies finished fifth but his BMW had some sort of technical issue that forced him to skip the final minutes of the session.

Sylvain Guintoli seems to have some problems with the Aragon circuit as he was almost 1.
6 seconds from his Aprilia team mate, while Davide Giugliano on the Althea Aprilia was almost four tenths slower than his factory counterpart.
Loris Baz took eighth with his Kawasaki ZX-10R and he was followed by Fixi Crescent Suzuki’s Jules Cluzel who was a massive two seconds off pace.

Carlos Checa closed out the top ten, and for the first time this weekend was able to break the two minute mark, but the Ducati’s are clearly suffering much more at Aragon than at Phillip Island.
