Barry Veneman to sub for James Toseland at Assen

39 year old Dutch rider Barry Veneman has been chosen to replace injured James Toseland in BMW Italia at the upcoming World Superbike round at Assen in two week’s time.
Veneman has considerable experience on the BMW S1000RR having been the German manufacturer’s test rider in several occasions and competing on the same machine in the German IDM Superbike series with the BMW Alpha Technik/Van Zon team, but it will be his first ever debut in World Superbikes, after having taken part in the World Supersport championship from 2002 to 2009.

James Toseland is slated to return to action for the fourth round of the season at Monza, after fracturing his wrist in a testing accident ahead of the Donington round, but according to Toseland, who writes for Eurosport UK, stated that the Monza round may be just a little too soon and doesn’t want to risk compromising his recovery, if he should suffer a fall.
