Rutter had taken a dominant pole position, but it was Hutchinson who got the hole shot trailed by Rutter, Roadhouse SMT Honda’s John McGuinness with Jessopp right behind.
A three way battle broke out for second while Hutchinson continued his lead and by the end of lap 2, McGuinness was fourth as Rutter and his team mate tussled, with Rutter getting the better of Jessop.
Setting his sights on Hutchinson, the Ducati man caught him on lap four and immediately began to pull away while Jessopp also got the better of Hutchinson for second.
