It wasn’t the rain in Spain that halted the first day of CRT testing at Aragon today, but high winds and cool temperatures.
With gusting winds reaching up to 60 km/h, the three CRT teams that are present at the Spanish circuit, Aspar, PBM and Avintia and their five riders decided to sit out the whole day due to the tough weather conditions that made riding a risk as they couldn’t keep the heat in their tires.
Only James Ellison (PBM) and Ivan Silva (Avintia Racing MotoGP) managed a couple of careful laps before returning to the safety of their garages.
The teams will be praying that the weather gods will give them a respite and so they can make up for the loss of precious testing time before they head to Jerez for the last official pre-season test when all 21 MotoGP riders will finally be on track together.
