After dominating the entire Moto2 British GP weekend, Pol Espargaro seems to be in a state of grace, not withstanding having his team appeal rejected following the controversial crash at Catalunya, as in this morning’s first Moto2 free practice the Spaniard posted the best lap time of 1’38″571 which seemed almost untouchable by the rest of the field until the final minutes of the session, when Andrea Iannone flied through the Dutch circuit probably on a set of fresh tires and ended up just a little more than one tenth adrift.
Tito Rabat was third, but he more than 8 tenths off pace from his Pons team mate and he was followed by Thomas Luthi and Claudio Corti, who crashed out with his Italtrans Kalex in the dying minutes of the practice, while standings leader Marc Marquez took 6th.
All four riders were covered by less than a tenth of a second.
Scott Redding (3rd at Silverstone) finished the session in 7th followed by Alex De Angelis (Forward has switched from a Suter chassis to FTR starting this weekend), Simone Corsi with Toni Elias completed the top ten.
Damian Cudlin who is replacing axed Angel Rodriguez in SAG Racing team was 30th.
Max Neukirchner also suffered a crash as did Gresini’s Ratthapark Wilairot.
