Moto2 Sepang: Thomas Luthi wins red flagged race – championship to be decided at Valencia

If the 125cc championship between Nico Terol and Johann Zarco will be decided at Valencia, so will the Moto2 championship between Stefan Bradl and Marc Marquez.
Marquez who did not pass the medical examination to compete in today’s Moto2 race at Sepang was gifted with a two week respite to recover from his injuries (shoulder, neck and eye) as the Malaysian race was red flagged with just two laps to go with Thomas Luthi having taken the lead over Stefan Bradl in the previous lap.

Bradl needed the win to take the championship title and at Valencia the Kiefer Kalex rider will just have to finish in 14th, while Marquez will need the victory to claim the Moto2 title.
The red flag came out after Axel Pons crashed out and laying on the track was hit by oncoming Kenny Noyes, and we are waiting news on his condition as he’s being transferred to the local hospital.

This was Luthi’s maiden win in Moto2, while Pol Espargaro took third place and his second podium of the season.
Alex de Angelis came up from 11th on the grid to finish fourth after a hot battle with Aleix Espargaro and Mika Kallio.

Dominique Aegerter took fifth followed by Mika Kallio, Michele Pirro and Aleix Espargaro.
While Andrea Iannone and Scott Redding closed out the top ten.
