Niccolò Canepa’s World Superbikes rookie season with Red Devils Roma team ended during the Nurburgring round when he crashed out during practice sustaining multiple fractures to his right tibia and fibula.
The young Italian rider will no longer be racing in World Superbikes in 2013, but will be making still another comeback to the World Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, (he won the title in 2007 on a Ducati and 2011 rode for Kawasaki Go Eleven), but this time he’ll be joining Barni Racing Team and partnering Eddi La Marra (runner-up this season) on the Ducati 1199 Panigale.
“I am very happy to be able to stay on a Ducati, because after so many years I’m still tied to Borgo Panigale.
I can’t wait to start this new adventure and finally get back to riding after the accident in Germany.
I’d like thank team manager Marco Barnabò, all his staff and my manager Silvia Mangione and Silvia Borella for believing in me.
I’m sure we’ll all have some great fun!” said Canepa.
Marco Barnabò – Barni team manager: “To have reached this agreement with Niccolò Canepa fills me with pride.
He’s a rider whom I respect and is very talented and has a successful curriculum.
I am convinced that together we will be able to obtain excellent results.
On the 28th and 29th of November we will be at Jerez testing and preparing for the 2013 championship.
Niccolò Canepa will be riding alongside Eddi La Marra who finished second in the championship and will want to do better and I hope both of them get the best results, I’m convinced that it will be fun!”
