Jorge Lorenzo lead the field in free practice 2 at Laguna Seca and it was a battle of lap times between the Fiat Yamaha rider and Casey Stoner.
Lorenzo clocked in his fastest lap at 1′21″763 just 0.
063s faster that Stoner who did not better his amazing 1′21″699 lap time from yesterday’s practice session.
Dani Pedrosa as usual bettered his lap times and took third and he was just a little more than one tenth from Lorenzo and a mere 0.
050s from Stoner.
Andrea Dovizioso took fourth looking for traction on his RC212V and he was followed by Ben Spies who was five tenths from Lorenzo’s best time.
Valentino Rossi had another quiet session struggling with shoulder and leg pain finishing sixth and behind Ben Spies by 0.

Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden were seventh and eighth respectively and both faster than yesterday.
Hector Barbera snatched the ninth spot from Aleix Espargaro after hitching a tow from Rossi.
Outside the top ten was Marco Melandri who was 11th fastest, ahead of of Loris Capirossi and Alvaro Bautista who made a big jump forward from yesterday’s first practice.
Marco Simoncelli took 14th ahead of Mika Kallio who binned his Pramac Ducati at the Rainey turn early in the session.
Replacement rider Roger Lee Hayden finished ahead of Interwetten Honda’s replacement rider Alex de Angelis.
The former AMA Supersport champion was able to drop 1.
064s off his Friday time.
