As part of its new Husqvarna road bike range, the company is investing in some new technology despite borrowing parts from big sister, BMW.
The new path that the company is taking provides it with a challenge in making road bikes with a Husqvarna character – developing a new offering of modern bikes based on fun, high performance and versatility.

The Husqvarna brand could easily fit those characteristics with the right investment and brand development.

Until now, Husqvarna bikes have always been characterised by their offroad capabilities and compact motors; but in the new project Husqvarna engineers have had to choose the right engine from the BMW offering, and adapt it to their needs.
The solution chosen so far is the BMW 800cc twin parallel unit which equips the BMW F800R.
It will be modified to suit the ambitious new project though, with engineers adding a higher performance, sportier feel and taking the new Husqvarna engine to 900cc in the process.

The engine developments are a combined project between Husqvarna engineers and those from BMW’s engineering department who have had experience producing F1 BMW engines.

The Husqvarna 900cc engine is the first big engine from the company and they hope to still give it a Husky sporty and dynamic feel.
Resting on the shoulders of BMW reliability is also an important message as Husqvarna tries to carve out its own personality.
The first step has been achieved with the new engine development and now we only have to wait to see what else the new BMW-Husqvarna project will produce in the future.
