Just a couple of weeks ago we presented a video by which German manufacturer Porsche intended to pay tribute to its iconic 911 model – one of those cars that really needs no introduction – but, quite predictably, that was not going to be enough for the thousands of fans of the car spread all across the world.
So here is another brand new clip starring what is arguably the most successful and recognizable sportscar in automotive history, with over 820,000 units built since its launch at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The 911 has been the heart of the Porsche brand for five decades, and nowadays it is still considered the quintessential sports car, whose trademark design is being taken as central point of reference for all other Porsche series that followed (think of the Cayenne and Panamera models for instance).
Commercial success aside, the 911 left its big mark mark in motorsports too: just consider that a good two thirds of the 30,000 race victories achieved by Porsche to date were notched up by 911 models.
The 50th anniversary of this iconic sports car is obviously the central theme of 2013 for the Stuttgart-based manufacturer, and there’s no doubt there will be a wide variety of anniversary events.
The company is also sending an authentic 1967 model 911 on a world tour that will include places like Pebble Beach, California, China, Goodwood in the UK, Paris and Australia.
