We’ve already mentioned that the Winery Le Due Quercie had released a special and limited edition wine collection ‘Sic58′ in honour of the late Marco Simoncelli, and that they would also be holding an auction to raise funds for the Marco Simoncelli Foundation day care center for disabled children.

This special auction was held last Saturday at the Castadiva Resort & Spa and raised a total of €43,000.
One of the bottles autographed by Valentino Rossi went for €9000 (who was not present due to a previous engagement, but did send a video message), while another bottle autographed by soccer star Mario Balotelli fetched €3,300.

Attending the event were MotoGP and Moto2 riders Andrea Dovizioso, Simone Corsi and Mattia Pasini, tennis star Flavia Pennetta, former Italian soccer player Bobo Vieri and a number of Italian show business stars.
The woman who bid for the Sic58 wine bottle (covered in carbon fiber and with a titanium label) autographed by Rossi also received two paddock passes for the Mugello GP, a motorcycle ride with Andrea Dovizioso, a pair of motorcycle gloves autographed by Simone Corsi, a pair of Bobo Vieri’s used soccer shoes and a night at Castadiva Resort & Spa.
