World Superbikes back to 14 rounds in 2013

The 2013 World Superbike calendar will be back to its usual fourteen rounds in 2013 according to the FIM website, and not an expected fifteen as indicated in the provisional calendar released last October.
The round that has been dropped was originally indicated as to be the 9th was scheduled for June 23rd and indicated as TBA (to be announced) with many expecting it to be Brno since the Czech track – which has been on the WSBK calendar since 2005 – is highly popular venue for the number of racing fans that flock to the circuit.

According to speedweek.
de the reason why Brno will no longer hosting the Superbike event isn’t all about reaching an agreement with Dorna regarding sanctioning fees (apparently around 6 million kuronas), but a clash between Jecminek Roman, president of the ACR (Czech Republic Auto Club) and head of the Czech Motorcycle Association (who will be sponsoring Lukas Pesek in MotoGP) and Karel Abraham Sr, who also is a part owner of the circuit and sponsoring his son with the Cardion AB team, but also because there is a fear that the fans will no longer show up for the event now that fan favourite and super Brno winner Max Biaggi is no longer in the game and Jakub Smrz has switched to the British Superbike Championship.

Portimao is still listed as being subject to contract, while completely missing from the 2013 calendar is Sentul, despite Infront – when it was still in charge of the championship- having officially announced a five-year contract with the Indonesian circuit last February.
