WSBK Silverstone: Cal Crutchlow Takes First Win of the Season

Sterilgarda Yamaha’s Cal Crutchlow took his first win of the season in Race 1 at Silverstone.
Crutchlow battled it out in a entertaining one on one duel with Jonathan Rea, but Crutchlow at the beginning of the twelfth lap of eighteen decided to take command and putting in strong pass and then starting pouring on the gas and out pacing the Ten Kate Honda man and even took the track record with a amazing best lap of 2’05’’259.

Jonathan Rea took a very honourable second place, while Leon Haslam despite a poor start was able to take the third spot under the chequered flag and making it an all British podium, the second since the Assen round in April.
Michel Fabrizio took a distant fourth and was two seconds ahead of a struggling Max Biaggi who managed to finish ahead of his Aprilia team-mate Leon Camier, who would grab the sixth spot from from his 16th on the starting grid.

Carlos Checa took seventh after passing James Toseland, who could only manage an eighth position.
Shane Byrne’s ninth spot made it six Brits inside the top ten and the Althea Ducati rider finished ahead of 10th place Troy Corser who ran as high as fourth before his BMW started to fade.

Roger Lee Hayden and Broc Parkes crashed at the beginning of the race, while the other Pedercini Kawasaki rider, Matteo Baiocco had to retire after technical difficulties.
