Moto3, Sachsenring: all the images

This last weekend Sandro Cortese won his home race at the Sachsenring to regain the lead in the standings of the Moto3 class, taking maximum advantage of main rival Maverick Viñales’s poor display which earned the Spaniard the 17th place and zero points.

Unlike the other two classes, the Moto3 race closed the German GP weekend in a downpour, with Cortese now leading the table with 148 points, meaning a cool +18 over Viñales, and Luis Salom clinching third spot at 104 points.

It’s been just seven months since the official presentation of the first KTM Moto3 engine took place in Salzburg in October 2011, and it took it just three races to obtain its first victory, when Sandro Cortese himself won in Portugal, at the Estoril.
A seemingly short period of time, but that not that unpredictable given the five official riders fielded by KTM’s own Moto3 squad and the four other riders riding a Kalex frame equipped with a KTM unit, but nonetheless the success of the Austrian manufacturer in this new-born class is just undeniable, possibly the natural outcome of the careful planning and development carried out by the house.

Here is a bunch of pictures celebrating Cortese’s excellent win at the Sachsenring, featuring shots from the track (dry and wet), the pit-lane, the grid and then some.
More photo galleries of the other classes as well as the usual paddock girls collection are currently in the works, so stay tuned for more of the same.
