While this was something funny told to me on Saturday night, on picking up the local paper on Sunday, I saw that it was actually true.
The Centro Valle paper of the Sondrio district reported that in a drink driving blitz in Italy, a tow truck was called to tow away the car of a driver who had just had his licence suspended after a drink drive test.
Only that on the arrival of the tow truck, it was discovered that this driver also had a blood alcohol limit above the permitted level of 0.
5.
So his licence was revoked too.
What happened after that is anyone’s guess.
Italy’s drink driving laws have caught out many Italian drivers, but this is the first we’ve heard of a tow truck driver losing his licence too.
