This afternoon’s World Superbike test session at Portimao, saw Jonathan Rea head the charts after deciding to take to the wet track for only 14 laps but they were decisive.

The Italian rider risking his recovering shoulder managed to put in 33 laps and they paid off, letting him climb up the chart and even lead for a short while.
Althea Ducati’s Carlo Checa took third, but unable to lower his lap times, while Liberty Ducati’s Sylvain Guintoli was fifth ahead of his team mate Jakub Smrz, who was the fastest rider on Day 1 in the dry.
Tom Sykes finished in sixth, while other Kawasaki rider Joan Lascorz decided to sit out the entire day as did Castrol Honda’s Ruben Xaus.
Eugene Laverty who rode during the morning session, sat out the afternoon session which left him 7th overall.
Noriyuki Haga was eighth, while Ayrton Badovini took the ninth spot and Michel Fabrizio, following two crashes was tenth.
James Toseland and Maxime Berger were the last two riders on the time charts.
