Following the incident reported by the Italian media regarding Romano Fenati being injured by an Ascoli Piceno traffic cop after an altercation regarding a parking violation, Team Italia FMI has gone into damage control mode and posted this photo of Fenati making peace with the CO of the traffic police along with a clarifying note on their Facebook page which also denys that their rider suffered any injury in the incident.

The team wrote “the banal episode was exploited by the press and manipulated by pseudo-racing fans and that Romano is 16-years old and like everyone else makes mistakes and that is the part of growing-up.
Only Romano has to realize that anything he does will end up under the spotlight.
However it is wrong to invent statements or attack the rider, his family and team, and in this case the incident DID NOT leave any physical or bureaucratic problems and the incident was just trivial disagreement that was immediately laid to rest.

We hope that this denial will be given the same prominence as the incident was.
”While Fenati added, “I am very surprised that what happened last Friday has caused a stir, and that it has become ‘a case’.

The statements that I’ve read do not reflect my thinking.
I never claimed to have been ‘hit’ and accusing the policeman in question nor do have I have a ‘fractured tendon’.
I’m sorry if this misunderstanding has caused any inconvenience to the Municipal Police with whom I have always had a great relationship.
