According to several Italian media sources, Ducati’s CEO Gabrele del Torchio will soon be leaving to take over the reigns of struggling Alitalia, replacing Andrea Ragnetti who resigned last February after the company reported a net loss of 280 million euros ($367 million) in 2012.
Del Torchio who has been at the helm of Ducati since 2007 was reconfirmed a CEO of Ducati after Audi, a division of Volkswagen, bought the Italian manufacturer last year and they also appointed the Italian to the Board of Directors at Automobili Lamborghini SpA.

According to speculation, Claudio Domenicali, who is presently the general director at Ducati or Wolfgang Durheimer, number two in Audi, who began his career in BMW’s motorcycle division and was also a race engineer for Gaston Rahier during the Paris-Dakar in the late 1980s, are in pole position to replace the Italian manager.
