As we reported just a few days ago, the streets of Kuala Lumpur – capital and most populous city in Malaysia – are going to be a lot safer this year.
The local government in fact has created a brand new Motorcycle Patrolling Unit (URB) that will be able to count on the support of no less than a thousand Kawasaki Ninja 250R machines and would adopt a two-man buddy system, focusing mainly on reducing street crime in high-risk spots.

This operation is part of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and was launched with a proper ‘parade’ through the streets of the Malaysian capital (as you can see in the video above).
This new lot of motorcycles strengthens the local police fleet (which already includes a few Honda ST1300 and some Can-Am Spyder) even further, and given the local regulations in terms of displacement and power we think that from now on the local bad guys will have a hard time trying to run away from the law.

The new 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 250R features an all-new parallel-twin motor with dual-throttle valve, new aluminium die-cast pistons, cylinders and crank cases as well as a more rigid frame.

The model can develop 23,5 kW (32 horspower) at 11.
000 rpm, with a peak torque of 21 Nm available from 10.
000 rpm.
The other big news for the Ninja 250 model year 2013 is the availability of the ABS as an option, with the Japanese manufacturer claiming that the new ABS unit is the “smallest in the world” and should significantly improve the stopping capabilities of its dual-disc braking package.
The Ninja 25OR without ABS would weigh 379 pounds (172 kg), a figure that would go up to 383 pounds (174 kg) with the ABS on.
