Team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol’s team manager Emilio Alzamora has continually denied that his Moto2 star Marc Marquez will not be moving to MotoGP next season, however over the past few races there has been a certain change of stance on the matter and, Marc Martin who follows the GP championship for TVE Spanish television tweeted today that Marquez and his team will be holding an important press conference next Friday, ahead of the penultimate round of the season at Sepang, where Marquez will officially reveal his 2012 plans.
Speculation is rife, with some saying that since Andrea Dovizioso signed a deal with Yamaha Tech3 and left an a RC213V available in Lucio Cecchinello’s LCR Honda squad, Marquez could end up there with full factory support under the watchful eye of Monlau Competicion or Alzamora could field his own MotoGP team, something similar to the Nastro Azzurro team which saw Valentino Rossi’s debut in the top class, in order to get Marquez around the unpopular rookie rule.
We won’t have to wait long, because Friday the 21st is just around the corner and we’ll keep you posted.
Whatever Marquez’ future plans will be, Repsol had already programmed that he would get a chance to try out a Honda GP bike during the official post season test at Valencia.
