MotoGP racing hasn’t been on the South American continent since 2004 when the Rio Grande GP at the Nelson Piquet circuit at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was dropped from the calendar, however a news report from website El Liberal says that there is a possibility that MotoGP could be racing at Santiago del Estero, located in the north of Argentina in the very near future.

It seems that the Secretary of Tourism, Carlos Meyer, despite some back pedalling by Governor Gerardo Zamora, is working on bringing all three racing classes (besides other international motorsport races) to the Autodromo di Las Termas de Rio Hondo in 2012 or 2013, with negotiations already on and backed by the National Government.
