This week’s upcoming 16th round of the MotoGP champion at Sepang will probably see two new world champions crowned, but it will also be an emotional return to the Malaysian circuit where Marco Simoncelli tragically lost his life on October 23rd, last year.
To commemorate the 1st anniversary of SuperSic’s passing, MotoGP riders and teams will gather on Thursday at turn 11 – where Simoncelli lost control of his Honda – to pay tribute to their fallen racing brother and where the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will install a special bronze plaque in his memory.

A ‘Marco Simoncelli Rookie of the Year’ trophy will also be unveiled on the Saturday and presented to this year’s rookie of the year during the final race of the season at Valencia.
