Marco Simoncelli’s funeral will take plate in a little more than an hour and will be televised on several Italian TV channels, but we would like to show you a video of the thousands of people who silently lined up at Coriano yesterday to pay their last respects to the MotoGP rider.
The public viewing at the Teatro Municipale went on even later than 10:00 pm when it was scheduled to close because of the vast number of people still waiting, it finally was closed at 2:30am and re-opened again for another hour this morning, before the entire family, including his grandmother to whom he dedicated his first MotoGP pole position at Catalunya, arrived to spend the last and private moments with their loved one.
Fausto Gresini, Simoncelli’s team manager stated that he was surprised and moved to find out how popular his rider really was.
