Ducati has only one more testing day available to test the Ducati GP12 with their official riders and apparently they want to call in newly crowned World Superbike champion Carlos Checa to have his feedback and help pitch in on the development work.
According to motoworld.
es Checa confirmed on Sunday that he has been asked to assist in the job, but admist the excitement of the title celebration his words barely hit anyone’s radar.
Checa has still to confirm if he’ll be with Althea Racing next year (apparently he has a second year option) but Ducati would rather have him test the GP12 before the 1199 Panigale, as the new Superbike will officially debut in the World Superbike championship only in 2013.
“I am now in Ducati and now we have to decide for 2012, which we know will be with the same bike.
And later we’ll see.
In fact I may soon test the 1000 MotoGP Ducati because they can not do many tests with Valentino and asked me if I could do it.
I think if I test a motorcycle it will be likely be the MotoGP before the Superbike,” said Checa.
Having Checa test the GP12 would be a boon for Ducati, because they would have someone who is decidely faster (the Spaniard has also lapped faster with his 1198 than Rossi with GP11.
1 in several occasions) than either Franco Battaini or Vitto Guareschi, even if they are all the same age.
