With less that 20 minutes to go in this morning’s MotoGP free practice at Le Mans, Sete Gibernau of Team Grupo Francisco Hernando highsided and unfortunately fractured his left collarbone in two places.
Gibernau who returned to racing after two years of retirement has always been troubled by collarbone and shoulder injuries.
Last December the Spanish rider had a metal plate removed but during training suffered from ligament problems that forced him to miss the Qatar pre-season test.
Gibernau will now fly back to Barcelona and will probably be visited at the famous Dexeus Clinic to see if he will require surgery.
The Clinica Mobile is now reporting that Gibernau will try to take part at his home Catalan Grand Prix on June 14 and will probably miss the next GP at Mugello.
