World Superbike team Celani Race has confirmed Alex Polita for the rest of the 2009 season.
Polita replaced injured Karl Muggeridge in the Misano and Donington Park rounds after Muggeridge cracked a couple of vertebrae at Assen, which a CAT scan confirmed after his crash at Miller Sportspark.
The Italian rider from Jesi will be returning to the team that launched him in 2006 and where he won the World Superstock championship.
This has been a troubled year for Polita.
Originally confirmed in Marco Borciani’s Sterilgarda team at the begining of the season, he was then axed when Borciani let him go because of economic difficulties, perfering to keep BSB champion Shane Byrne.
Without a ride Polita then turned to Italian CIV Stock with a Yamaha and team funded by his father.
He was then called by Hoegee Suzuki before the Assen round to ride in World Supersport, but after the Miller round, the Dutch based team announced that they too were having economic problems and were pulling out of the championship.
Now the Italian is finally back with a Suzuki, but in World Superbike.
