New 2011 Aprilia Scarabeo 125 and 200

Part of the beauty of riding scooters in Europe are the ladies that ride them.
If you think the fashion in these pics is just for the press kit, you might well be lucky enough to find women actually wearing this stuff as they cruise around, indulging in some retro urban style.

Anyway, the Aprilia Scarabeo was a true status symbol at the beginning of the 2000’s and in Italy at least there wasn’t a teenager who didn’t have one, or didn’t want one.
Facing some stiff competition in the land of scooters, there is a new 2011 Aprilia Scarabeo 125 and 200 ie generation with some stylistic and technological updates.

Aprilia has still maintained some of the traditional aspects of the scooter with the circular elements, but we get a new rear tail design – now higher – and an updated passenger seat for better comfort.
The Aprilia Scarabeo motors are both single cylinger, water-cooled units with four valves and double overhead cam.
New fuel injection technology should make for better acceleration, top speed and improved fuel consumption.
Two engine mapping systems are available which can be swapped through a simple command on the handlebars.

The ECO setting can reduce fuel consumption by seven percent and presents the best economy for city riding.
The Sport setting is for better performance and helps the 200cc Scarabeo take advantage of its 19 hp and 17 Nm of torque.
The 125cc engine has 15 hp.
The new Scarabeo still uses a classic, robust tubular steel frame with a 35 mm front hydraulic fork and secondary rear aluminium swing arm for a simple but light and efficient suspension system.
It’s adjustable to balance the different weight and riding style of any rider and the passenger or load being carried at the time.
Aprilia uses five-spoke wheels with tubeless Michelin 16-inch tyres, the front brake disc measures 260 mm, and the rear is 220 mm.
The new Scarabeo is available in six different colours – Nero Aprilia black, Bianco Flair white, Silver Crowd, Blu Couture, Rosa Silk pink and Rosso Luxury red.
We’ll soon be bringing you a test ride of the new Scarabeo, so stay tuned to see how this zippy new scooter goes in a competitive segment.
