Phillip Island circuit gets complete facelift (w/video)

The iconic Australian circuit of Phillip Island has just received a major resurfacing job after 14 years of steady use.

445km track was $3 million AUD and now retired two-time World Champion Casey Stoner – who won for six consecutive years on his home circuit was one of the consultants giving first hand knowledged on which bumps should be kept and which should be removed.

3km of kerbs were removed and replaced, whilst drainage around the circuit should be improved.
World Superbike riders will get the first shot on the new surface for their official tests ahead of the first round of the 2013 season that kicks off February 22-24 and we expect to see Tom ‘Superpole’ Sykes break some track records.
