Apparently everything was not rosy in LCR Honda in 2010 as we thought it was, at least in final part of the season and the split between Lucio Cecchinello and Randy de Puniet was not as amicable as the usual sweetened press release lead us to believe.
De Puniet, in an interview with Sport24.
com, let his usual politically correct mask down and revealed that after he broke his leg at the Sachsenring GP, things abruptly changed in his garage and that he didn’t get the support he needed and was looking for, and that despite making an amazing comeback in a little more than 3 weeks, he was accused of being unmotivated.
“This year I was 4th in the championship before I got hurt, I came back as soon as possible, so obviously, I wasn’t at at my best.
Lucio Cecchinello may have been the pressure of sponsors … I do not know, but I am disappointed with this outcome, even if this year is my best season in Moto GP in terms of results.
”With his switch to Pramac Ducati with a one year contract and after the two day test session at Valencia, the French rider is all gung-ho about his new ride, despite the Desmosedici’s reputation of being difficult, but De Puniet seems to have immediately gelled with both the bike and his new team and expects factory upgrades much sooner than what he got with Honda.
“This is a bike that suits my riding style, said De Puniet.
“It’s more stable under braking than the Honda, even it’s harder to put around the corners” and confessed laughingly, that when he saw Loris Capirossi win in Barcelona in 2003 on the Ducati, he said to himself, “One day I’ll have to ride that bike.
