In order to avoid clashing with Formula 1 (and Bernie Ecclestone) who recently decided to host their German GP race on July 7th, the 2013 MotoGP calendar has been revised and the Sachsenring round that was to be held on the same date, has now been moved to July 14th.
The Jerez de la Frontera circuit has also been officially confirmed for the following three seasons.
The Spanish circuit not only has received a contract extension, Dorna has also lowered their sanctioning fees from from 4.
5 million euros to 2.
7 million euros that will be paid by the Andalucian regional government.
“It’s with great pleasure that I can announce the extension of the Jerez Grand Prix for a further three years,” said Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.
“It is one of the key stops on the MotoGP calendar with an atmosphere bar none that attracts huge crowds from near and afar.
It is also a popular venue with the riders, as the track’s nature makes it a great spectacle for some of the best racing in the world.
