The slow wheels of justice of the FIM have ruled against Casey Stoner for not showing up personally during the second edition of the televised FIM Gala ceremony that was held at Estoril last December.
Apparently sending his father Colin to pick up the award in his place, didn’t go over well with the FIM protocol and they have slapped Stoner with a fine of over 70,000 Swiss Francs (around € 58,000) for not picking up his award.

Casey Stoner’s excuse was that wife Adriana was around 30 weeks pregnant at the time and making the trip from Australia would have been tiring for her – their daughter Alessandra Maria was born in Switzerland on February 16th.
Evidently the FIM doesn’t know that Stoner’s are joined at the hip and where he goes she’s always with him, or didn’t remember that he didn’t even want to ride at the Motegi GP because of his wife’s pregnancy, but ended up changing his mind and went alone or maybe they didn’t appreciate the fact that he preferred to stay in Australia and take in the Sydney 500 race the day after the gala with wife Adriana in tow.
