Sachsenring back on MotoGP calendar

German MotoGP fans can breathe a sigh of relief because it seems that their beloved Sachsenring circuit will be back on the MotoGP calendar in 2012.
The popular venue has been hosting GP racing since 1998, was having problems coming up with the increased sanctioning fee that Dorna was demanding – 3 million euros and also find an extra 1 million euros to implement some safety changes that the riders wanted – which would have set the promotor ADAC in the red for 850,000 euro.

However, it seems that ADAC has some very good ties with the governing body of Saxony who seems ready to financially back part of the races, because a press conference will be held at the circuit tomorrow afternoon which will also see the presence of the Prime Minister of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich, and probably officially announce they’ve signed a long term contract to continue hosting MotoGP racing.
