Our Italian cousins over at Motoblog.
it were present for the first day of 2012 Sic Supermoto Day> event that is being held at the Sagittario race track at Latina to raise funds for the Marco Simoncelli Foundation.
Today saw the practice sessions under very cloudy skies, but the track was dry but unfortunately when the qualifying came around a big rain storm hit hit the circuit so the All Star riders were forced to use rain tires that mixed up the cards.
The pole position was captured by the duo Winstanley Matt- Christian Iddon followed by Mattia Pasini who was paired with Ivan Lazzarini and completing the ‘front row’ was Massimiliano Verderosa ed Andrea Antonelli.
Andrea Dovizioso, who we expected wouldn’t be riding due to his neck problems – that forced him to sit out at all three days of testing at Jerez – instead qualified fourth with his team mate Mauno Hermunen, and they were followed by Valentino Rossi and Thierry Van Den Bosch in fifth.
The now retired World Superbike champion Max Biaggi used to train on this circuit and he went well during the dry practice session, but in the wet had several issues setting-up his twin cylinder Aprilia and he and his partner Adrien Chareyre could only qualify 14th overall.
