The new Citroen DS4 was launched yesterday and it’s another hot model wearing the DS badge for the French company.
We will be seeing the DS4 live at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, where it will appear alongside the new Citroen C4 model.
The DS model is smaller and chunkier than the standard hatch it’s based on and was originally developed off the back of the High Rider Concept.
That, and with a higher wheel setting, mean the DS4 just borders on a crossover model.
While not immediately obvious from the DS4 pics, the car is actually a 2+2, five-door model with hidden door handles in the rear window frame.
It’s the second car in the DS line-up, the first being the DS3, and we’ll be interested to see how far beyond the hatchback set-up Citroen plans to take its new range.
The DS4 measures 4.
27 metres long, 1.
81 metres wide and 1.
53 metres high, the only measurement actually larger than the C4.
We’re not yet convinced that Citroen has got the hatchback, coupĂ© and SUV combination quite right yet, so we’re reserving our judgement until we see this live in Paris.
See after the jump for more details.
The Citroen DS4 should be available in the third quarter of 2011 and will be on the market with five engine options comprised of three petrol and two diesel units.
The petrol units are: a 1.
6 VTi with 120 hp and a 1.
6 THP with either 155 or 200 hp.
The two diesel engines are a 1.
6 HDi with 110 hp and another with 160 hp.
The 110 hp version also comes in the more environmental e-HDi version with Start&Stop technology and improved transmission.
All other engines come with a six-speed manual gearbox (the CMP6).
While the DS range is noted for its almost esoteric sports style, the DS4 is also going a little premium, including all the personalisation options available, in addition to what is described as a driver-orientated interior, ambient lighting, leather upholstery and chrome trims.
Keeping more of a concept-car feature is the panoramic windshield.
This is definitely one to check out in Paris.
