MotoGP Aragon: Ben Spies fastest in wet FP2

After this morning’s wasted session, this afternoon’s second MotoGP free practice went into full action mode as the Motorland Aragon circuit was properly wet and the riders could fully use the rain tires without ripping them as it often happens in mixed conditions.

Despite the treacherous conditions and as the session progressed the riders gained more confidence and lap times began to drop, with the top of the timesheet changing hands constantly, but it was Ben Spies who ended up the being the fastest rider and stopping the clock in 2.

Jorge Lorenzo, the ‘martillo’ regarding his race pace was third, but more than half a second off pace followed by a very impressive Nicky Hayden who as usual was the fastest Ducati rider with the new updated GP12 chassis.
Andrea Dovizioso was fifth followed by Stefan Bradl and Cal Crutchlow.
The Yamaha Tech3 rider was dropped down to 7th after his fastest lap was disallowed after he cut almost the entire second sector.

Valentino Rossi was the 8th fastest, if 2.

3 seconds from his team mate can be considered fast.
Closing out the top ten were Karel Abraham and Alvaro Bautista.
Despite playing coy, Bautista should be reconfirmed by Gresini in the next few days.
Recently renewed Honda Superbike rider Jonathan Rea was 11th in his second weekend with Repsol Honda replacing injured Casey Stoner, while Randy de Puniet led the CRTs with his 12th spot but he was also 1.
