Here are the first pics of the Smart eScooter – the prototype electric scooter which will go on display at this year’s Paris motor show.
It has a very prototype style about it at the moment but the design is not displeasing.
The slogan for the moment is “intelligent urban mobility” but it should actually prove to have the performance capabilities of a classic 50cc despite our cynicism for fancy catch phrases.

A lithium ion battery pack feeds the motor with 5.
4 hp and a top speed of 45 km/hr.
Smart claims that its eScooter has a range of about 100 km and that recharge time takes between three and five hours.
More concept features are photovoltaic panels and a kinetic energy recovery system activated when braking.
These are the kind of elements we will probably see disappear if this eScooter goes into production.

Clearly some snazzy Smart technology has made its way onto the prototype model with ABS, airbag and Blind Spot Assist.
We also get LED lights, 13-inch wheels and heated handlebars which sound pretty cool to me.
The rest of the cool factor is delivered by the lack of instrumentation, designed to be replaced by any smartphone which can be plugged into the small dash to work as rev counter, speedometer or navigator.
