This is one of the most interesting things to come out on safety and helmet technology, its called ThermaHelm and comes from inventor J.
Preston-Powers out of the Sussex University Innovation Centre.
Thermahelm incorporates a two packs of endothermic chemicals integrated inside the helmet lining and at the moment of impact the packs mix and trigger a chemical reaction that produces an instant ice pack that cools the head.
Research has shown that cooling the brain after a head injury reduces brain swelling and the risk of long term brain damage.
Thermahelm is looking to sell helmets with the packs already built-in, but they can retro-fit the system directly into your own helmet.
