According to Spanish website SoloMoto.
es Jorge Lorenzo has split with his personal manager Marcos Hirsch (the big guy in the photo).
Hirsch began his career as Lorenzo’s personal trainer and then became his ‘life coach’ and then according to Lorenzo “his brother, for teaching and protecting me” and inherited the role of the Spaniard’s personal manager when he cut out from his life Dani Amatriain.
The now retired Amatriain then went on a meltdown in 2009 after being dropped not only by Lorenzo but also by the Espargaro brothers and began harassing his former riders.
He was also detained overnight for death threats against the three (it’s explained in one of the last chapter’s of Lorenzo’s autobiography My Story So Far).
Speculation by Spanish website Motoworld.
es says the reason behind the split – said to be have been friendly – may have been due to the recent contract negotiations with Yamaha, and apparently Lorenzo was unaware of certain details before signing the two year contract and also unaware that Honda had wanted to continue a bidding war to have him.
This is the second person of Lorenzo’s entourage to leave in the past year after press agent Hector Martin.
Updated:In an interview with Motocuatro.
com Lorenzo had denied the rumors that the split was due to contract negotiations and confirmed that the separation was amicable and the reason behind it was that he needed something new and and wanted to change.
His new manager is Albert Valera.
“It is totally false, I’ve been thinking about this decision for several months.
However, I believed that it was unfair that Marcos could not take care of this last negotiation with Yamaha.
I knew about the offers and at any moment I could freely choose where to go.
This rumor is totally false and I hate to tell lies.
