I often have my doubts about “explanatory” videos when it comes to new product, but then these Ducati Diavel tutorials go a long way to convincing us skeptical Europeans that the Diavel is a good purchase.
Combining Ducati sports riding feel and branding with a cruiser style was always going to be a challenge, and while we think this will probably remain quite a niche player, it now seems clear that Ducati has made a darn good bike.
These Diavel tutorial videos take us through the various technological aspects of the new bike and help to prove that it’s making its mark on this segment.
The sales figures for the Diavel have been modest but positive, and of the 5,000 models sold around the world, the US market has taken up about 1,000 of them, while Italy itself has absorbed a small percentage of about 670 models.
For the videos, Ducati even gets Vittoriano Guareschi to give the bike a little plug, and the design process behind the Diavel is quite interesting.
We can’t be sure whether the Diavel will be a strong player in the Ducati line-up in the future, and it still feels a bit like the business case was created after the bike, but we’re more convinced as we go along that there is definitely room for this among the Ducati product range.
More videos after the jump.
