Carlos Checa again headed the timesheets in this morning’s QP2 at Misano.
The Spaniard despite a crash at the half way mark of the session, got the best of Max Biaggi on his final run and left the reigning World Champion adrift by 0.
322s.
They were the only two to break the 1’36s mark, while Alstare Suzuki’s Michel Fabrizio took the third spot with Kawasaki’s Joan Lascorz finding something special in the last minutes and slipped into fourth place from 18th, with both riders also took a tumble.
Fifth went to Marco Melandri, who exchanged some hard overtaking passes with rival Max Biaggi for a lap and he was followed by Leon Haslam in sixth.
Also making the cut into Superpole was Haslam’s team mate Troy Corser who had a massive highside during yesterday’s QP1, but still was able to take the 13th best time.
Kawasaki seems to like the Misano circuit because Tom Sykes was seventh with an impressive Ayrton Badovini in 8th, followed by Monza winner Eugene Laverty in 9th.
Others who made the Superpole cut were Maxime Berger (10th) followed by Jakub Smrz and Sylvain Guintoli, Ruben Xaus (Castrol Honda), Leon Camier and Jonathan Rea who was 16th.
Noriyuki Haga missed the cut by just 0.
007s from Rea and as did wild-card Matteo Baiocco who was separated from the cut-off 16th place by just 0.
