As the holiday season unfolds, Aberdeen has transformed into a vibrant festive hub, captivating both locals and visitors alike. The annual Christmas Village, which officially opened recently, has turned the usually grey Broad Street into a lively spectacle filled with colorful lights, fairground rides, and an array of stalls offering seasonal delights.

The opening ceremony was a community affair, featuring a local pantomime dame and Charlie Dog from Charlie House, which added a touch of local charm.
The event showcased talented ice dancers and live music from the Robert Gordon’s College Pipe Band, creating a festive ambiance that resonated with attendees. Yvonne Walter, visiting from Elgin with her daughters, remarked on the uniqueness of the village, saying, “It’s amazing. We don’t have anything like this in Elgin.”
The Christmas Village also includes the “Curated in the Quad” Christmas Market, which opened with 45 stalls featuring a variety of gifts, crafts, food, and drinks. Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, expressed his delight at the village’s opening, emphasizing the importance of such events in bringing the community together. “With so much to see, do, and enjoy, I am sure thousands of people will flock into the heart of Aberdeen to be filled with the Christmas spirit,” he stated.
Returning favorites such as the ice rink, bungy trampolines, and children’s carousel ensure that there is something for everyone. While some visitors noted that the prices seemed a bit steep, the overall sentiment was one of joy and appreciation for the festive offerings. As the city gears up for more events, including the annual Christmas parade and the Castlegate tree switch-on, the Christmas Village stands as a testament to Aberdeen’s vibrant holiday spirit.
