Positive steps for Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Inverness Caledonian Thistle (ICT) is experiencing a resurgence in League One, with midfielder Charlie Gilmour expressing relief at the team’s recent performance. After a challenging start to the season, which saw them docked 15 points due to financial difficulties, the Highland club is beginning to find its footing.
Following a crucial 2-1 victory against Cove Rangers, ICT is now focused on building momentum as they prepare to face the league leaders, Alloa Athletic.
New leadership and a fresh approach
With Scott Kellacher stepping in as head coach, the atmosphere around the team has shifted positively.
Gilmour noted that the new management is fostering a supportive environment, which has been crucial for the players. “It’s been positive since the gaffer has taken over,” he stated, highlighting the importance of maintaining high morale within the squad. The team has managed to secure four points from their last three matches, a promising sign as they aim to climb out of the relegation zone.
Challenges ahead against Alloa Athletic
As ICT prepares to host Alloa Athletic, Gilmour acknowledges the challenge that lies ahead. “It will be a good challenge,” he remarked, recalling his previous loan spell with Alloa. The team is aware that beating the current league leaders will require their best performance. Gilmour emphasized the need for consistency, stating, “We need to build momentum now and get those two, three or four wins in a row, which will make a big difference.” The players are motivated to prove themselves against higher-ranked teams, and Gilmour believes they can thrive under pressure.
Adapting to a more attacking style
Gilmour, who recently returned from a hand injury, is enjoying the more attacking style of play implemented by Kellacher. This new approach has opened up more opportunities for him on the pitch. “I still get to play the football I like, possession-based,” he explained. The midfielder is focused on making impactful plays and contributing to the team’s success. As ICT looks to solidify its position in League One, Gilmour’s determination and the team’s collective effort will be vital in overcoming the challenges ahead.
