In a significant development for Aberdeen’s industrial landscape, the Halo Accident Repair Centre has secured a 10-year lease for a newly refurbished unit on Souter Head Road in Altens. This move marks the centre as the first tenant of the revamped property, which spans 9,108 square feet and commands an annual rent of £105,000.
Situated within the Energy Transition Zone (ETZ), the new facility is part of a broader initiative to enhance industrial capabilities in the region.
David Mitchell, a key player in the joint venture behind the property, Epic Alva 1, noted that the team identified a significant gap in the Aberdeen market for high-quality industrial spaces. The refurbishment, which exceeded £1 million, was completed in September, and the swift leasing of the unit underscores the demand for such properties.
Following the acquisition of the site at the end of 2023, Epic Alva 1 has made substantial investments in modernizing the facility.
Enhancements include newly insulated composite steel clad roofs and the installation of electric vehicle charging points, aligning with contemporary sustainability standards. Mitchell expressed satisfaction with the refurbishment, stating, “These units now tick all those boxes, which is demonstrated by the fact that unit two has let so quickly.”
The demand for well-located, high-quality industrial buildings in Aberdeen has been a pressing issue. Claire Herriot, business space director at Savills Aberdeen, highlighted the severe lack of good quality, detached industrial and logistics spaces in the area. She remarked, “The acquisition of the units on Souter Head Road is an excellent example of our client identifying an opportunity to buy an older scheme at a reasonable price and investing in it to deliver the products that occupiers require.” The interest in the remaining unit further emphasizes the need for such developments in the region.
Halo Accident Repair Centre, which is headquartered near Chichester in England, is a spin-off from its sister company, PMC. The firm prides itself on its reputation for delivering high-quality and speedy accident repairs, making it a valuable addition to the Aberdeen industrial sector. With the backing of ETZ, which provided a grant to support the refurbishment, the project is poised to meet the demands of the market for years to come.
