The Aberdeen bistro's dedication to quality and passion earns national acclaim.

A remarkable achievement for Cafe Boheme

Cafe Boheme, a charming bistro located on Windmill Brae in Aberdeen, has recently been honored as one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK by OpenTable, a prestigious restaurant reservation service. This accolade is particularly significant as it is based on genuine diner reviews, showcasing the establishment’s commitment to excellence. OpenTable’s list is designed to guide diners in discovering exceptional dining experiences across the country.

Celebrating local flavors with a unique twist

Since its opening in 2003, Cafe Boheme has carved a niche for itself by offering a delightful fusion of French and Scottish cuisine. It stands out as the only restaurant in the north and north-east of Scotland to make it onto OpenTable’s esteemed list. The recognition is not just a testament to the quality of food but also highlights the restaurant’s dedication to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for its guests.

The bistro was also one of only five restaurants in Scotland to receive this honor, with the majority located in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Commitment to quality and passion

Ellie Donald, the manager of Cafe Boheme, expressed her excitement about the recognition, stating that it is “fantastic news” to be acknowledged among such a competitive field of restaurants. The success of Cafe Boheme can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of its staff, who approach their roles with passion and care. According to Donald, “Our chef, our front of house staff, everyone does their work with love and care. It’s not just a job for any of us; we all have a lot of passion for our work.” This commitment to quality is reflected in the restaurant’s consistently high ratings and positive reviews.

A growing reputation

This latest accolade adds to the growing list of achievements for Cafe Boheme. Just last month, it was recognized as one of the best 50 restaurants in the UK for solo diners, further solidifying its reputation as a must-visit dining destination. Additionally, the restaurant was included in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland last year, showcasing its culinary excellence and dedication to providing an outstanding dining experience.

Looking ahead

Paul Mair, the owner of Cafe Boheme, also manages two other restaurants in Stonehaven, the Old Pier and the Tolbooth. After taking over the Tolbooth last year, he successfully refurbished and reopened it to the public in April 2023. With such a strong portfolio of dining establishments, Mair continues to elevate the culinary scene in the region.

As the vice president of international growth at OpenTable, Laure Bornet, noted, “Our Top 100 Restaurant list highlights a breadth of diner favorites in the UK.” The list serves as an inspiration for diners seeking new culinary adventures, whether for a casual meal or a special occasion. With its recent recognition, Cafe Boheme is poised to attract even more food enthusiasts eager to experience its unique offerings.
